Council for Relations with Serbs in the Region
PURPOSES OF ESTABLISHING THE COUNCIL
Council for Relations with Serbs in the Region was established on 9 December 2009, in Belgrade (Law on Diaspora and Serbs in the Region, “Official Journal of RS” No. 88 of 28 October 2009, Article 27), aiming at providing support to the Serbs in the region in the exercise of their rights and will adopt strategic guidelines and coordinate the work of all state authorities participating in the implementation of the policy towards Serbs in the region.
COUNCIL’S CONTRIBUTION TO THE DEVELOPMENT OF
GOODNEIGHBOURLY RELATIONS AND ACCELERATION
OF THE EU INTEGRATION PROCESS
Serbia’s strategic goal is to be the economic and political leader in the Western Balkans, implying its leading role in the promotion of goodneighbourly relations and regional cooperation. Consequently, the Council will also contribute to the acceleration of the process of EU integration in the entire region.
COUNCIL MEMBERSHIP
The Council is chaired by President of the Republic of Serbia Boris Tadic and its membership includes the following:
President of the National Assembly of the RS Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic, Prime Minister Mirko Cvetkovic and Ministers in charge of the following departments:
- Foreign Affairs: Vuk Jeremic,
- Diaspora: Srdjan Sreckovic, MA,
- Education: Dr. Zarko Obradovic,
- Culture: Nebojsa Bradic,
- Religious Affairs: Dr. Bogoljub Sijakovic,
- Finance: Dr. Diana Dragutinovic,
- President of the Executive Council of Vojvodina: Dr. Bojan Pajtic,
- Representative of the Serbian Orthodox Church: Bishop of Zahumlje and Herzegovina Grigorije
