Mrkic - VenizelosMinister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Ivan Mrkic received today the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Hellenic Republic Evangelos Venizelos in his capacity as the Greek Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

Minister Venizelos emphasized that it was a great honour for him to have chaired the First Intergovernmental Conference, marking the formal start of the negotiations between the Republic of Serbia and the European Union, and expressed the readiness of the Hellenic Republic to support Serbia's EU accession process.

Minister Mrkic extended his gratitude for the strong and unconditional support of the Hellenic Republic to the Republic of Serbia on its European path.

In a cordial meeting, both sides assessed that their bilateral relations were at a very high level and that new consultations were planned within the previously signed Memorandum of Understanding in the context of European integration.
The commitment of both countries to intensify their relations in all areas of common interest and to resume their political dialogue was emphasized in particular.
