Dacic and Choe HyoungFirst Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dacic has received today Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Korea to the Republic of Serbia Choe Hyoung chan, who presented his letters of credence to President of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic, on 28 November 2018.

Minister Dacic welcomed the newly-appointed Ambassador Choe wishing him success in the discharge of his responsible duties. He noted that the relations between the Republic of Serbia and the Republic of Korea were very good and expressed readiness of Serbia to further intensify them in all areas of cooperation.

Next year marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between our two countries, which will also be an exceptional opportunity for the realization of mutual visits both on high and top political levels.

At the same time, Minister Dacic conveyed Serbia's interest in developing cooperation with the Republic of Korea in the fields of economy, culture, education, science and technology, IT sector and other areas. He pointed out that Korean companies remained welcome in Serbia and expressed satisfaction at the past bilateral cooperation in the field of economy.

He noted that Serbia appreciated moderate positioning of Seoul in relation to the issue of Kosovo and Metohija, especially in the light of Pristina's unilateral moves regarding the attempt at becoming a member of international organizations, and emphasized that Serbia expected the Republic of Korea would continue to maintain such a position in the future.

He also reiterated that the Republic of Serbia welcomed the reduction of tensions on the Korean peninsula, as well as the negotiations on its denuclearization.

Ambassador Choe agreed with the assessment of the relations made by Minister Dacic, stressing that there was a considerable room for the further improvement of cooperation in all areas, to which he was ready to make his own contribution. The Republic of Korea attached great importance to the further advancement of overall cooperation with the Republic of Serbia. He agreed that marking of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Serbia and Korea, next year, was an excellent opportunity to exchange high-level visits. He pointed out that economic cooperation between the two countries was improving, and that there was plenty of room for its promotion in the future, especially with regard to a greater presence of Korean investors in Serbia. He underlined significant opportunities for cooperation between the two sides in the field of information and communication technologies.
