First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dačić met today in Antalya with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu.

Antalya Province is Minister Çavuşoğlu's native region and where the Republic of Serbia has opened a Consulate headed by an Honorary Consular Officer.

Minsiter Dacic conveyed his best wishes to Minister Çavuşoğlu on the occasion of Eid al-Adha and his pleasure over the fact that their meetings had become a tradition.

In the talks, the Foreign Ministers exchanged views on all essential bilateral and regional issues as both sides stressed that the bilateral relations had reached a historic high, namely since the diplomatic relations were established between the two countries, adding that sincerity and openness were the key factors contributing to the further promotion and deepening of cooperation. Both sides underlined that maintaining such a course would ensure that any potential issues whatsoever be resolved to the mutual benefit.

As regards regional issues, they focused on the developments in Serbia's immediate neighbourhood and on opportunities ahead of Turkey and Serbia aimed at consolidating the stability in the region as well as its prosperity.

The Serbian Foreign Minister invited his Turkish counterpart to visit Serbia, expressing his hope that they would meet again soon during the upcoming visit to Belgrade by President of Turkey Erdoğan or at the United Nations General Assembly Session in September this year.

At the end of the meeting, Minister Çavuşoğlu gifted a Yeni Malatyaspor shirt to Minister Dačić as a token of friendship, given that the Serbian Foreign Minister was a passionate fan of Partizan FC and that the two teams would play a match on 15 August.
