Kozarev on a Working Visit to Italy
Satisfaction was expressed with the close relations between Serbia and Italy, characterized by intensive economic cooperation and Italy’s continued support for Serbia’s European integration process. It was underlined that strong ties are further reinforced by the mutual understanding between the two peoples, the high frequency of visits at all levels, and joint efforts aimed at preserving their shared Christian heritage. Particular emphasis was placed on the positive role of the Italian KFOR contingent in safeguarding Serbian religious and cultural heritage sites in Kosovo and Metohija, including the Visoki Dečani Monastery.
Kozarev and Guariglia discussed opportunities to further enhance bilateral contacts and agreed to continue the already intensive dialogue between the two ministries. Regional cooperation within the framework of the Central European Initiative (CEI), as well as through the activities of the “Friends of the Balkans” group, was highlighted as an important avenue for strengthening connectivity, with Italy’s support playing a significant role.
The Statehood Day reception, hosted by the Embassy of the Republic of Serbia in Rome, brought together a large number of Serbian and Italian officials, members of the diplomatic corps, representatives of Italian institutions and the business community, members of the Serbian diaspora, and distinguished figures from the cultural and public life of Rome and Italy. In addition to the Ambassador of Serbia to Italy, Mirjana Jeremić, addresses were delivered by the Deputy Prime Ministers of Serbia and Italy, Adriana Mesarović and Matteo Salvini.
