Minister Dačić meets with the German Foreign Minister in the margins of the OSCE Ministerial Council

01. Dec 2022.
First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Serbia Ivica Dačić met today with Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs of Germany Annalena Baerbock in the margins of the OSCE Ministerial Council in Lodz.

Minister Dačić stated that Serbia was hoping that the high-level political dialogue which had been achieved in the preceding period would be continued and intensified, as that an exchange of visits between the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the two countries would soon occur.

As regards regional matters, Minister Dačić expressed his hope that Germany would have a balanced approach and provide constructive support to the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina, with a focus on the implementation of existing agreements, primarily with respect to the establishment of the Community of Serb Municipalities. He emphasised that it was necessary to avoid unilateral actions and deny support to unreasonable demands of Pristina (such as for membership in the Council of Europe and the EU) which are contrary to the agreed solution framework.

Minister Dačić highlighted Serbia’s gratitude for the support that the Government of Germany had provided to the intensification of the European integration of Serbia and the region.

It was agreed that, in addition to continuing the political dialogue, overall cooperation should be developed, including economic cooperation. Minister Dačić stated that Germany was Serbia’s most important economic partner and one of the biggest investors in the Serbian economy, and that German companies in Serbia currently had approximately 78,000 employees.

As regards other forms of cooperation, Minister Dačić and Minister Baerbock emphasised that there was a lot of room for further improvement of the cooperation in the fields of energy diversification, environmental protection and climate change.
