Đurić Confers with Georgian Foreign Minister in Chișinău

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Marko Đurić met today in Chișinău, where he is participating in the ministerial meeting of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe, with Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia Maka Botchorishvili. The two officials discussed the most important issues concerning bilateral relations, as well as current international developments.

During the cordial and constructive meeting, the ministers jointly assessed that Serbia and Georgia are bound by a traditional friendship and expressed their mutual readiness to further strengthen relations in all areas of common interest.

Minister Đurić expressed satisfaction with the successful visit of the President of Georgia to Serbia last year and conveyed his expectation that the positive momentum of political dialogue at both the high and highest levels would continue.

He particularly thanked Georgia for its consistent and principled support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Serbia, as well as for its support for Serbia within international organizations.

Addressing economic cooperation, the interlocutors welcomed the launch of negotiations on the conclusion of a Free Trade Agreement between the two countries.

Minister Đurić also spoke about the significance of the decision to open a diplomatic and consular mission of the Republic of Serbia in Tbilisi in the near future. As a further confirmation of the intensification of bilateral cooperation, the Serbian Foreign Minister highlighted the establishment of a direct air route between Belgrade and Tbilisi.
