Serbia and Malta have a long tradition of good relations, without open issues. The former Minister of Foreign Affairs E. Bartolo attended 21. Belgrade economic forum on 4. and 5. October 2021. and had a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs N. Selakovic on 4. October 2021. The political dialogue was enhanced by the visit of the Prime Minister of Malta J. Muscat to Serbia and his meeting with the then Prime Minister A. Vučić on 9 January 2016.
There is room for improving economic relations. Bilateral trade from January to May 2022. amounted to 4.495 million euros, of which Serbian exports to Malta amounted to 1.717 million euros (fall of 35,1%) and imports amounted to 2.778 million euros (fall of 18,8%).
