Political relations

Bilateral relations are friendly and without open issues. In recent years, there has been a more intensive political dialogue.
The former First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia, Ivica Dačić, on 29 March 2019, paid an official visit to the Republic of Nicaragua.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Nicaragua, Denis Moncada Colindres paid a return official visit to the Republic of Serbia on 25-26 July 2019.
In October 2021, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Nicaragua D. M. Colindres has participated in the work of the High-Level Commemorative Meeting to mark the 60th anniversary of the First Conference of Non-Aligned Movement in Belgrade.

 

Economic relations

In 2020, a total of 186,000 euros of exports and 851,000 euros of imports were recorded. In 2019, a total of 160,000 euros of exports and 195,000 thousand euros of imports were recorded.

 

Bilateral agreements

  • Agreement on Scientific-Technical and Cultural-Educational Cooperation Between the Federal Executive Council of the SFRY Assembly and the National Renewal Government of the Republic of Nicaragua, signed on 19 November 1980 (The Official Gazette of SFRY No. 10/84);
  • Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Nicaragua on the Establishment of a Mechanism for Political Consultations, signed on 9 May 2017 (Official Gazette of the Republic of Serbia—IT No. 7/2019);
  • Agreement on the Abolition of Visas for Holders of Diplomatic and Official Passports, signed on 29 March 2019
