Aleksandar Crevar on trade and economic cooperation with Belarus

The chargé d'affaires ad interim of the Embassy of the Republic of Serbia in Minsk, Aleksandar Crevar, met with the Minister of Economy of the Republic of Belarus, Aleksandr V. Chervyakov, with whom he discussed current bilateral trade and economic cooperation, as well as possible forms of further long-term cooperation.

The charge d'affaires emphasized the importance that the Republic of Serbia attaches to the further development of bilateral economic cooperation with the Republic of Belarus, especially in the context of the current bilateral Free Trade Agreement and the forthcoming entry into force of the Free Trade Agreement between Serbia and the Eurasian Economic Union.

During the talks, the importance of cooperation in areas of common interest was pointed out, such as trade, establishment of joint ventures, high-tech and information technologies, tourism, agriculture, food industry, and current investment opportunities in many areas in Serbia were presented.

The interlocutors emphasized the importance of regular sessions of the intergovernmental commission for trade and economic cooperation, as well as the importance of cooperation between the chambers of commerce of the two countries.

Crevar pointed out that a positive realization of current cooperation projects is expected, in the field of export of Serbian wines and alcoholic beverages to the market of Belarus, as well as positive cooperation in the field of furniture industry.

The charge d'affaires ad interim expressed gratitude for the principled and continuous support of Belarus for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Serbia, as well as the firm position of Belarus on the non-recognition of the so-called "Kosovo", and expressed expectation that the stated support will be provided in the future as well.

Minister Chervyakov pointed out that Serbia is a key partner of Belarus in the Balkans, emphasizing that the Belarusian side is especially interested in cooperation in areas such as the establishment of joint ventures, industrial production, trade and investment.

On that occasion, a high level of bilateral relations was noted, which are based on the traditional friendship of the two peoples.
