22. Sep 2025.
During his visit to Australia, the State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia, Damjan Jović, toured the Serbian School “St. Sava” at the Church-School Parish in Brisbane.
In discussions with teachers and students, Jović expressed his satisfaction that more than 100 pupils of Serbian origin attend this school, emphasizing that this represents an important contribution to the preservation of the Serbian language, culture, and national identity within the diaspora.
The supplementary school was opened in 2002, and with the support of the Embassy of the Republic of Serbia in Canberra, in 2023 it officially became the first school in Australia to operate under the program and patronage of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Serbia.
While in Brisbane, Jović also visited the Church of St. Nicholas, where he met with members of the diaspora following the Sunday liturgy.
