22. Dec 2025.
The Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dušan Kozarev, met today with the newly appointed Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba to the Republic of Serbia, Pavel Orencio Díaz Hernández, and wished him a successful term of office.

Kozarev emphasized that Serbia is committed to further deepening relations with Latin American countries, noting that Serbia and Cuba are connected by a shared legacy dating back to the period of the Non-Aligned Movement, which should be utilized as a foundation for cooperation across numerous fields.

It was noted that the visits of the President of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić to Havana in 2017 and the President of the Republic of Cuba Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez to Belgrade in 2023 provided additional impetus to bilateral relations. The interlocutors expressed their shared commitment to continuing the overall enhancement of dialogue, economic relations, as well as cooperation in the fields of healthcare, biotechnology, education, culture, trade, agriculture, and tourism.

It was concluded that, in the context of strengthening the capacities of the two ministries, cooperation between diplomatic academies and the training of personnel should be further encouraged, based on the Memorandum of Cooperation in this area signed in 2022.

Kozarev expressed gratitude for the principled support of the Republic of Cuba for the preservation of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Serbia.

The meeting also addressed the Specialized Exhibition Expo 2027, with Ambassador Hernández conveying that Cuba attaches immense importance to this event, for which it is intensively preparing, and expects to present itself in the best possible manner.
