Minister Dacic condemns in the strongest terms the incident in which an effigy of President Vucic was burned in Croatia

14. Feb 2024.
First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dacic condemned in the strongest terms an incident in which an effigy of President of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic was burned in the town of Kastel Stari in the Republic of Croatia.

“I condemn in the strongest terms the incident that occurred on 13 February 2024, during a traditional carnival procession in Kastel Stari in the Republic of Croatia.

The burning in effigy of President of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic is an absolutely unacceptable act that is completely contrary to a jointly expressed commitment to full normalization of relations and promotion of comprehensive cooperation between our countries.

This scandalous act of spreading hatred sends a message that in no way contributes to the strengthening of good-neighbourly relations, peace and stability in the region, and directly and seriously erodes the relations between the two countries.

In this connection, a note of protest was sent to the Embassy of the Republic of Croatia in Belgrade.”
