24. Jun 2025.
The State Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia, Damjan Jović, met today with members of the team of the OSCE High Commissioner on National Minorities, Mikko Vainionpää and Elio Bogi.

During the meeting, the participants exchanged views on current issues concerning national minorities in the Republic of Serbia, as well as the rights of Serbs in neighboring countries.

State Secretary Jović emphasized that Serbia attaches immense importance to the institution of the OSCE High Commissioner on National Minorities, with which it has maintained a longstanding and productive cooperation. He reiterated Minister Đurić’s invitation to High Commissioner Kairat Abdrakhmanov to visit Belgrade.

He underscored that Serbia would welcome the continued engagement of the High Commissioner in ensuring the effective protection of the individual and collective rights of Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija, who are continuously subjected to serious and systemic pressure and the denial of basic human rights as a result of Pristina’s unilateral actions.

The interlocutors commended the cooperation between Serbia and the Office of the High Commissioner in recent years, noting that Serbia applies one of the most progressive legal frameworks for the protection of national minority rights. They also highlighted Serbia’s ongoing efforts to further strengthen its institutional and legal framework and ensure its effective implementation.
