Đurić and Szijjártó in New York on strengthening ties between Serbia and Hungary

On the margins of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Marko Đurić met with Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of Hungary Péter Szijjártó, once again reaffirming the excellent bilateral cooperation between the two countries. This cooperation, framed within a strategic partnership and intensive political dialogue, is marked by the steady strengthening of political, economic, and cultural ties between Serbia and Hungary.

Highlighting the importance of frequent high-level visits in further advancing bilateral relations, Ministers Đurić and Szijjártó also exchanged views on the most pressing regional and global issues.

The ministers jointly assessed that economic relations between the two countries are developing dynamically, placing particular emphasis on cooperation in the field of transport infrastructure, as well as joint projects in the gas and oil industries.

One of the topics of today’s meeting was the upcoming third session of the Strategic Cooperation Council between Serbia and Hungary, to be held in Belgrade by the end of the year. Both sides noted that this mechanism represents an important factor in further enhancing overall relations.

Taking into account that economic cooperation follows the excellent political relations, Minister Đurić underlined that in the coming period, joint efforts should be directed towards strengthening energy security and improving infrastructural connectivity.
