Đurić confers with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Philippines in Munich
Noting that the friendly ties between the two countries date back to the Non-Aligned Movement, Minister Đurić conveyed Serbia’s readiness to further develop bilateral relations on that foundation, with an expansion of cooperation in all areas of mutual interest.
In this context, he underscored the importance of exchanges of visits at high and highest levels and extended an invitation to Minister Lazaro to pay an official visit to Serbia.
Đurić expressed particular gratitude for the Philippines’ consistent support for the preservation of Serbia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as for its principled position of non-recognition of the unilaterally declared independence of so-called Kosovo.
The importance of continuing bilateral political consultations was also reaffirmed, as a useful practice contributing to better mutual understanding and strengthening institutional ties between the two ministries.
In light of the Philippines’ upcoming chairmanship of ASEAN (the Association of Southeast Asian Nations) in 2026, Serbia reiterated its interest in obtaining observer status in the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA).
Speaking about cooperation, Minister Đurić highlighted the potential for collaboration in the field of education and recalled that Serbia provides scholarships to foreign students under the “World in Serbia” program, encouraging Filipino candidates to apply and participate in the initiative.
