Đurić confers with representatives of the Conference of Presidents of major American Jewish organizations

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia, Marko Đurić, met today in New York with representatives of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations to discuss strengthening Serbia’s relations with Jewish communities in the United States.

Views were exchanged on current global issues, Serbia’s position and role in the region and the world, as well as prospects for further advancing cooperation with Jewish communities in the United States and beyond.

Minister Đurić emphasized the long tradition of friendship between the Serbian and Jewish peoples, as well as Serbia’s strong commitment to fostering a culture of remembrance and combating all forms of antisemitism.

The interlocutors expressed readiness to intensify dialogue in the period ahead and to explore new initiatives that would contribute to strengthening bilateral relations and shared values.

The meeting also addressed current global and regional challenges.

Particular attention was drawn to the plight and suffering of the hostages, including Serbian-Israeli citizen Alon Ohel, who has been held captive in Gaza by Hamas, together with other hostages, since October 7, 2023. On this occasion, a renewed appeal was made for their release.
