On the margins of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia, Marko Đurić, met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Abdisalam Abdi Ali.

Reflecting on the recent highly successful visit of the Somali Prime Minister to Serbia, Minister Đurić reaffirmed Serbia’s clear commitment to developing relations and cooperation with Somalia in all areas of mutual interest.

“This is the year in which we mark the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, which is yet another reason to work on their further advancement and on strengthening mutual support,” said Đurić.

He recalled that relations between the two countries are characterized by decades-long friendship, rooted in the values of the Non-Aligned Movement, marked by mutual respect and a high degree of support on key issues in international forums.

The Minister expressed confidence that Somalia would continue to support the territorial integrity of Serbia, underlining that Serbia extends the same support when it comes to Somalia.

The two sides also discussed possibilities for strengthening economic cooperation, as well as cooperation within the framework of the “World in Serbia” program and in the field of sports.
