Đurić: Strengthening cooperation and partnership between Serbia and Switzerland

12. Nov 2025.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia, Marko Đurić, met today with Andrea Saxer Rauber, Co-Chair of the Joint Commission on Economic Affairs between Serbia and Switzerland, to discuss further enhancement of bilateral relations in the fields of economy, trade in services, innovation, dual education, parliamentary cooperation, and collaboration within international organizations, as well as other areas of mutual interest.

The head of Serbian diplomacy expressed satisfaction with the quality and continuity of political dialogue, recalling his bilateral visit to Switzerland in June this year and the recent political consultations between the two foreign ministries held in Bern. He emphasized that Switzerland, through its dynamic and intensive cooperation with Serbia across numerous sectors, represents a reliable partner and an important investor with substantial experience in science and high technology, innovation, infrastructure, energy, and environmental protection.

Minister Đurić noted that the largest share of Serbia’s trade exchange is conducted with countries of the region and EU member states, while Serbia simultaneously strengthens its position and develops economic ties with other prosperous markets in Africa and Asia. He expressed gratitude for Switzerland’s continued support for Serbia’s European path—despite not being an EU member itself but maintaining exceptionally developed relations with the Union—stressing that Serbia is working intensively and with dedication on implementing social reforms in order to meet, on its part, all conditions for full EU membership. This objective, alongside the preservation of stability and Serbia’s political and military neutrality, remains one of the key foreign policy priorities of the country.

Minister Đurić underlined that Serbia is rapidly advancing the implementation of projects related to the international specialized exhibition EXPO 2027 and expressed appreciation to Switzerland for being the first country to officially confirm its participation in this event, which will host representatives from around 130 nations.

Both sides acknowledged that the large Serbian diaspora in Switzerland, as well as Swiss citizens living and working in Serbia, represent an important cultural and economic bridge for further strengthening cooperation between the two countries.
