Mutual willingness to continue developing relations between Serbia and Eswatini

Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Marko Djuric met today with Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Kingdom of Eswatini Pholile Shakantu, who is on a bilateral visit to the Republic of Serbia.

In the conversation, the collocutors noted that the two countries were bound by traditional friendship and expressed readiness to intensify the political dialogue, including through the exchange of visits at the highest level.

Minister Djuric pointed out that Serbia was committed to developing its friendship and comprehensive relations with the Kingdom of Eswatini and all countries and peoples of the African continent, recalling that these ties dated back to the time of the SFRY and were based on mutual support, solidarity and understanding.

The Serbian Foreign Minister expressed his deep gratitude to the Kingdom of Eswatini for supporting the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the Republic of Serbia.

Minister Djuric informed his interlocutor about the course of the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina and the problems of the Serbian people in Kosovo and Metohija, underlining that Serbia was unequivocally committed to peace and finding a lasting and sustainable solution, in full compliance with the fundamental principles of international law and the legally binding UN Security Council Resolution 1244.

The Serbian Foreign Minister informed his interlocutor about the economic successes of Serbia in the past decade, emphasizing that there was a strong and unequivocal will to promote economic cooperation with Eswatini.

During the cordial conversation, it was noted that the economic relations between the two countries were not sufficiently developed, while both sides expressed their willingness to strengthen cooperation in all areas of common interest.

At the end of the meeting, the General Cooperation Agreement was signed between the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the Government of the Kingdom of Eswatini on the establishment of a Joint Permanent Commission on Cooperation.
