Selaković: Luxembourg strongly supports Serbia’s accession to the EU

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Serbia, Nikola Selaković, started his visit to Luxembourg with the meeting with the Minister of Foreign and European Affairs, Jean Asselborn.

Selaković stated that the meeting had been very successful and that good and friendly relations of the two countries had been confirmed. He added that the continuation of regular political consultations had been agreed and that the visit of the minister Asselborn to Serbia early next year had been discussed.

Furthermore, ministers Selaković and Asselborn signed the Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation of the two ministries.

Selaković said that Minister Asselborn was very dedicated and supported accession of Serbia and entire Western Balkans to the European Union. He emphasized that the Luxembourg Minister had complimented Serbia for its activities in the social and economic sphere.

Minister Selaković highlighted that the dialog between Belgrade and Pristina as well as the regional situation had been discussed with special attention.

“Minister Asselborn mentioned on several occasions that Serbia was the key factor of stability in the region and therefore it was expected from us to be the most responsible”, said Selaković.

The Serbian Foreign Minister concluded that it had been an honor and pleasure to discuss with Minister Asselborn, the doyen of the diplomacy of the European Union and the man who had been the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for 17 years concluding that we had a good, honest and principled partner in him.
