Selaković: Serbia–Turkey relations at their highest point in recent history

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Serbia Nikola Selaković met with the Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey Hami Aksoy today.

Noting that the bilateral relations between the two countries had reached perhaps their highest point in recent history, Minister Selaković highlighted exceptional personal relations between President Aleksandar Vučić and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan as a big contribution to the cooperation between their countries.

Minister Selaković stated that excellent political relations between the two countries were complemented by a well-developed economic cooperation. In that context, he welcomed numerous Turkish investments in Serbia, as well as the interest that Turkish investors had continuously expressed for investing in Serbian economy.

In view of Serbia’s stable business environment and attractiveness to investors, Minister Selaković said that Serbia would provide long-term support to Turkish investors for fulfilment of their business intentions, both with respect to the implementation of investment projects and preservation of investors’ acquired rights.

In addition to Turkish investments, Minister Selaković emphasised the importance of Turkey’s assistance to the implementation of infrastructure projects, such as the Belgrade-Sarajevo-Belgrade highway.

Minister Selaković also welcomed the opening of the Belgrade-Ankara and Niš-Istanbul airlines and the announced future opening of the Kraljevo-Istanbul airline, as a contribution to faster and better connectivity between the two countries.

He highlighted that Serbia’s priority was the improvement of good neighbourly relations, cooperation and connectivity in the region. Minister Selaković said that Serbia considered Turkey an important factor for stability in the region, and was ready to participate in joint activities for promoting the importance of regional peace and stability.
