Statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs

09. Mar 2026.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia categorically rejects the tendentious, unfounded and politically motivated claims made by certain political actors alleging that the Russian Federation was supposedly requested not to address the issue of Kosovo and Metohija in the United Nations Security Council.

Such allegations represent a blatant falsehood and yet another attempt to undermine citizens’ trust in the institutions of Serbia and to create a misleading public perception regarding the foreign policy priorities of the Republic of Serbia. Safeguarding the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Serbia, as well as consistently drawing attention to the systematic violations of the collective political and human rights of Serbs by the Provisional Institutions in Priština, remains among the foremost priorities of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The entire diplomatic and consular network of the Republic of Serbia, together with all departments of the Ministry under the leadership of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, is engaged in this effort and continuously works to inform the international public about the position of Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija and the numerous challenges they face.

The issue of Kosovo and Metohija, as well as the conditions in which Serbs live in our southern province, remains a permanent priority of the foreign policy of the Republic of Serbia. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will, in cooperation with all relevant international partners, continue to address this issue with the same level of commitment, resolutely safeguarding the state and national interests of the Republic of Serbia not only within the United Nations, but also in all other international forums.
