Political consultations held between Serbia and Mexico

Political consultations between Serbia and Mexico were held today at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The delegation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mexico was greeted by Minister Selaković, who on that occasion underlined that the relations between the two countries are traditionally friendly, based on mutual understanding, respect and support.

He expressed special gratitude for Mexico's principled position on the issue of Kosovo and Metohija.

He said that our country is interested in intensifying the political dialogue at the highest level with Mexico.

He also expressed readiness to further strengthen economic co-operation between Serbia and Mexico.

During the consultations, the two delegations discussed the possibilities for comprehensive strengthening of bilateral relations between the two countries, which this year, with a series of events in Serbia and Mexico, mark the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.

The two delegations paid special attention to the exchange of experiences and good practice in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

They also talked about strengthening multilateral cooperation, as well as the process of Serbia's accession to the EU, i.e. the final phase of negotiations on the Global Compact between the United States of Mexico and the EU.

The delegation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the United States of Mexico was led by the Director General for Europe, Bernardo Aguilar Calvo, while the delegation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Serbia was led by the Acting Assistant Minister for Bilateral Cooperation Ambassador Vladimir Marić.
